September 25, 2011    Girls Girls Girls   The Radii   The Polymorphines   NeedlesxPins

So this weekend was pretty delightful.  Now I have ALL OF THE HOMEWORK to do, but it was pretty much definitely worth it?

On Friday I went to the Railway to celebrate my birthday, so that was a pretty excellent time.  Girls Girls Girls were here from England; they played some stuff from their upcoming album, which sounds pretty promising, and a bunch of their old stuff too. It was another we’re-the-only-ones-dancing situation, like the last time they were here, but come on, who doesn’t like an excuse to drunkenly yell “Hello sailor” repeatedly?  I don’t know, you guys.

Anyhoop, then on Saturday I caught Tassels and Fine Mist at Zulu, and then later went to the Fairview for The Radii/The Polymorphines/Needles//Pins/The Tranzmitors.  So that was a pretty fantastic combination!  Highlights:

  • One of the Tranzmitors’ sisters was having her bachelorette party at the show
  • I got to be the person who plays the tambourine for a song during The Polymorphines
  • Then Bryce Dunn (Tranzmitors drummer) played the tambourine sometimes during Needles//Pins’ set
  • I didn’t get any pictures of the Tranzmitors’ set due to extreme dancing times, but they had a pretty nice setup for (singer/guitarist) Jeff, who I guess hurt his leg? with a chair and a table with a lamp and tea set
  • When they were playing Live a Little More, during the line “Home in the evening I put on the kettle and some old records that you’ve never heard,” Jeff looked significantly at said tea set

Okay, now it’s time to go make some more flash cards about seed plant taxonomy.
